Biography
Connie L Dodd is a self-taught artist currently residing in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she continues her life-long pursuit of painting.
After years of a career as a fashion illustrator in Iowa and Illinois, she was fortunate to live in two outstanding wilderness areas - Chile, SA and Alaska. As a volunteer for the Peace Corps in Chile, she was biological illustrator for the Chillean National Forest Service. During her 16 year (1977-84; 85-94) stay in Alaska she was a free-lance illustrator, graphic artist and showed her paintings in various galleries. In 1991 she began devoting her artistic talent to full-time painting.
During her residency (1994-2003) in Shepherdstown, WV, her work progressed from strictly watercolors to oils. Stylistically moving from more traditional realism to an impressionistic style and finally into more expressive abstractions.
After moving to North Carolina in 2003, she has immersed herself in the study and development of abstract painting, and strived to create her style of abstract painting that is more personal.
